“CHOCOLAT DREAM”

Genivieve packed the dressing table drawer with thin tissue and very gently put the delicate antique scrap laces from her grandmothers wedding gown in, then reached for the chocolate box.

As the wife of a fine chocolatier in France, she knows, too much will falter her figure but she can’t resist the luxurious indulgence of chocolat.

Collage Tutorial 14. Maps

IMG_20131124_122254s

I loved making this collage using my collections of found papers and fabric.

IMG_20131124_122447s

I started off with an old school exercise book cover from the 1930’s. It was full of hand drawn maps. I added stitching to the map and some found vintage graph papers, aged canvas and a did a little hand drawing on tissue

IMG_20131124_122453s

The paper with one of the maps of Queensland Australia was very delicate, so I glued it down  very carefully with archival gel medium. It’s a bit wrinkled but I don’t mind.

IMG_20131124_122240s

I added some fabric scrap from a vintage tablecloth depicting Australian wildflowers

Finally, I created little drawings all over the entire collage with pencils and ink pens

Charlotte Eco-Friendly. Handmade. Vintage. Recycled. Textile Assemblage Necklace.

Charlotte

Eco-Friendly. Handmade. Vintage recycled textile necklace. A vintage textile assemblage necklace collaged from recycled, vintage and antique elements to create layers & textures in French style.

Length -19 inches – 49 cm.

ABOUT
I created ” Charlotte”, from vintage cloth, hand – sewn and wrapped with vintage satin ribbons, crochet scraps and metallic silk threads. The necklace is embellished in places with Victorian bone beads, faux pearls and a 1800’s antique buckle up one side. This buckle was dug from the goldmines in Victoria, Australia.

Another buckle, Victorian, lay below, together with, a decorative metal fan shape with leaf embossing, a vintage glass bead in rose, a vintage, “Mother of Pearl” embellishment with an antique French doily attached to a hammered found tin, cap. Finished with a touch here and there of doily scap and antique tulle netting in antique cream.

Healing and Creating. Vintage Wrist Cuffs.

Yoka

Having torn my leg muscle lately,I’ve been forced to slow down and rest up for 6 weeks so it will heal. Today, I’m sitting on the couch with a warm fire creating fabric wrist cuffs. My lounge room is a gorgeous mess of vintage scraps and odds and ends in boxes, bags and tins.

Claudette

I like to layer my cuffs, by tearing strips of vintage fabrics, lace, netting and hand dyed doileys I then hand sew them together leaving the edges raw .I then overlay the fabric layers with anything interesting I can find like:  metal , rocks ,sea glass, old beads, buttons, broken jewellery, watch parts and bits & pieces gathered from here and Europe.

Rene

I also create custom – made wrist cuffs for people who give me old fabrics and embellishments they have collected. Usually, the items hold a special memory, or story for that person. I then create a special wrist cuff for them out of mums buttons, grannies brooch or flea market finds from travels.

Gabriel

Every cuff conjures up a story for me so, I give each art piece a name and a little story in the description.
